I am a clinical social worker with 20 years experience in both private practice, adolescent/family work, trauma and crisis intervention. I am currently the manager of the psychiatric triage department in the ED in a community hospital outside of Boston. In addition to managing a team of clinicians, I evaluated patients who present to the hospital with a wide variety of issues and concerns (Psychosis/Bipolar, Depression, Anxiety, OCD, ASD, Substance use disorders/OD, Suicidal/Homicidal thoughts/acts) with patients in all age ranges. The impact of the COVID 19 pandemic has been a significant on all of us and this has been evident in both the people who is see presenting for care in the hospital as well as my peers in the hospital. I have been active in helping those coworkers manage feelings of anger, sadness, fear, etc throughout the past year and hope to continue to be helpful in that role. My main philosophy is that as human beings we all deserve to be treated with decency and kindness. We should be able to live our lives knowing that if we need help with our emotions or psychological health then there will be no stigma involved and that there will be people available to help us through that difficult time. My approach is direct yet compassionate and most always with a splash (or 2) of humor. Humor is what keeps me sane.
